WCCC is not a local government body. For government matters contact CanberraConnect.
The WCCC holds open public meetings on last Wednesday of the month - see Meetings for a timetable.
The meetings are held at The Weston Club, Liardet Street, Weston at 7.30pm (map). We regularly have invited speakers, politicians and other representatives, with other organisations (eg ACT Policing) also regularly attending.
There are no membership fees for the WCCC and any resident of Weston Creek is able to contact the WCCC to seek assistance or advice. All members of the committee are volunteers and no one receives payment for any activities. The Council also receives financial support from the ACT Government.

The WCCC and Fetherston Gardens Friends (WCCC/FGF) submit the following comments on the Canberra Islamic School DA for additional school building construction, as this development will directly impact on the Fetherston Gardens next door, both during the construction phase and afterwards.
The Summer newsletter for the Fetherston Gardens is now available. It includes details of upcoming Volunteer Days, a Fetherston tale, plant profile and more.
The Fetherston Gardens restoration is underway. A year has passed since we started on this journey, and the Gardens and arboretum are looking grateful for the intervention of Volunteers. Before us were acres of overrun ivy, up every tree trunk, smothering any idea of a garden with plants. We started at the front gate, too frightened to leap much further along the paths, what paths! We had to find those too.
The Spring newsletter for the Fetherston Gardens is now available. It includes details of upcoming working bees, a Fetherston tale, plant profile and more.

These gardens were designed and developed as the former Canberra Institute of Technology Horticulture College in Heyson Street, Weston which was opened in 1974. In the gardens, which have been named after the first and longest serving Head of the Horticulture College, Tony Fetherston, there is a well-established arboretum, a woodlands garden, and an enclosed "secret garden". The CIT's Weston campus was closed in 2002, and the gardens ceased being a purpose-built educational facility. Several years later, in 2009, in response to representations from the WCCC, the ACT Government dropped its plans to redevelop the site for residential purposes, and handed the land back to the Weston Creek Community for use as a community facility, while the former classroom buildings became part of the Canberra Islamic School.
The WCCC is working with the Friends of the CIT/Fetherston Gardens to coordinate the community's participation in the garden redevelopment project. The current goal of the WCCC and the Friends of the Gardens, in conjunction with the Parks, Conservation and Lands Department of the ACT Government, is to bring the gardens back to a condition where they can again be open to the public.
