Bupa Facility 41 Freemantle Dv, Stirling

Following the briefing given to the WCCC at the November meeting, Bupa have advised of a further community briefing on the aged care facility proposed for Stirling.  The briefing is to be held on site at 41 Freemantle Drive, Stirling on Wednesday, 12 December 2012 at 6pm.

Happenings at Teesdale Place, Stirling

Teesdale PlaceThe Council has been advised of two happenings relating to Teesdale Place, Stirling.   The Labour Club has been granted approval to ‘payout the concession’ in relation to the land at Teesdale Place and the Economical Development Directorate (ACT Government) has announced that it intends to release the land next to the Labor Club in Teesdale Place.  The land identified for release is zoned as CZ6, Leisure and Accommodation Zone that includes a range of uses aimed at providing for the development of entertainment, accommodation and leisure facilities for residents of and visitors to the ACT and surrounding region.  Residents comments are sought by Government by COB 14 May 2012.

Stirling Street Lights:

There is an outage with street lights in parts of Stirling, particularly along parts of Fremantle Drive. TAMS are responsible and have asked ACTEWAgl to fix the problem as quickly as possible. ACTEWAgl have confirmed that there is a cable fault in the area but have yet to isolate the fault. They have this work as a high priority and are working on finding and then repairing the fault. When the fault is found there is a need to gain the necessary cable clearances to undertake the repairs. No time frame can be given at this stage until the fault is identified.

Weston Creek Stormwater Retriculation Network - Update

Minister Corbell has provided further details on the Weston Creek Stormwater Reticulation Network which is designed to provide non-potable water to a number of playing fields in Weston Creek. This will assist in drought proofing the important playing fields in Weston Creek.

WCCC is not a local government body. For government matters contact CanberraConnect.

The WCCC holds open public meetings on last Wednesday of the month - see Meetings for a timetable.

The meetings are held at The Weston Club, Liardet Street, Weston at 7.30pm (map). We regularly have invited speakers, politicians and other representatives, with other organisations (eg ACT Policing) also regularly attending.

There are no membership fees for the WCCC and any resident of Weston Creek is able to contact the WCCC to seek assistance or advice. All members of the committee are volunteers and no one receives payment for any activities. The Council also receives financial support from the ACT Government.
